Kentucky Flex2 Trail Gaiter Saddle 1582

Made In The USA

We're proud to be consistently adding to our gaited saddle selection. New from Circle Y, the Kentucky Gaiter Saddle is designed specifically for your gaited horse. It's proven to fit a wide range of gaited horses.

The Trail Gaiter saddles are fashioned to give your horse the freedom of movement and comfort that he needs with his unique gait. Several features provide this: the Flex2 tree, the shorter, rounded NeoShock skirts for no gait interference, and multiple rigging options for freer shoulder movement. The saddle also features Circle Y's impact foam seat, which absorbs shock and eliminates transference between horse and rider.

The Softee leather drastically shortens the "break-in" period for your saddle, providing a "ready-to-ride" feel right off the bat. Lastly, the Ergo-Balance stirrups are designed to place the rider's feet and legs for decreased knee and ankle fatigue and to promote balanced riding. Your gaited horse will prance like never before.

Special Features

Circle Y Flex2

The Flex2 tree has a rigid ground seat with a dual bar system that provides both stability and flexibility where it's needed. This tree is available for riders of all sizes and has proven over time to fit a large variety of horses.

Circle Y Impact Foam

Tired of a sore butt after a days riding? The impact foam seat offers you unmatched comfort in the saddle. Engineered to offer maximum cushion without wearing down quickly, this seat is everything you've been looking for to get you through the trail.

Softee Leather

Annoyed with the break-in period of your new saddle? No more! Softee Leather is revolutionary. Real full-grain leather with a broken in feel. Softee seat jockeys and fenders are ready to ride right out of the box.

Tunnel Skirt

The Flex2 Tunnel Skirt creates a channel in the spine area which will decrease rubbing, sore spots and any kind of pressure along the spine. The tunnel allows for hot air to escape while cool air flows in.

Neo-Shock

The Neo-Shock skirt absorbs shock from rough terrain and uneven surfaces through the neoprene filler. This filler is designed to muffle any vibration for a smoother ride for both you and your horse. This skirt also conforms to the conformation of your horse.

EBS

EBS (ErgoBalance Stirrups) tilt the stirrup to eliminate torque on the riders knees and ankles. No more sore joints after your ride! This will provide you increased comfort while promoting balanced riding.

3 Way Rigging

3-Way adjustable in-skirt rigging with several rigging options and positions to best suit fitting all of the different horse conformations.

Western Saddle Seat Size Calculator

*NOTE FOR CHILDREN OR YOUTH SIZES SMALLER THAN 14" When measuring for a child's Western saddle, have them sit down in a chair. Once seated, use a measuring tape to measure the length of their upper leg from the knee to their rear. The saddle should be about 10% longer than the child's upper leg. For example: If the child's leg measures 9 inches, then the child's Western saddle should be 10 inches.

Calculated Seat Size:

There is a lot of room for personal preference with seat sizing, but as a general rule it is better to error on the side of ordering a seat size that is too large rather than erring on the side of a seat that will be too small.

Things to Consider

  • Tucker adds 1/2inch to their seat sizes (due to thick seat padding)
    16.5” Tucker = 16” normally

  • Barrel riders usually take 1” less on the seat size
    16” Trail Rider = 15” Barrel Rider

  • Ranch (slick seats) usually ride smaller (1/2inch seat size) so they don’t slide around
16” is for most men, 15” for most women

  • Trail Saddles with High Cantles (5”) make the seat sizes feel smaller
Trail Saddle with 5” cantle will feel smaller in the seat than one with a 3.5” cantle

  • English Saddles don’t convert exactly but often are 2” bigger
    18” English = 16” Western

  • Riders with inseams under 30” or 5’ tall and under often need custom cut fenders
Tall riders with long legs but lighter weight may need custom cut fenders as well

Checking the Fit

  • General Guideline is about 3 fingers between your thigh and the swell.
