High Horse Dusty Road Trail Saddle 6822

Made In The USA The Dusty Road is made with rich chestnut leather that is perfectly accented with a hand-tooled border called Mountain Pass. This deep red finish pairs nicely with the wooden stirrups and pebbled ranger grainout seat. This seat material is great for adding grip and is known for its durability. The padded seat and pre-turned stirrups will keep you riding in comfort. Six strings make it easy to attach gear for those long rides.

IDEAL FOR

  • Trail riders looking for a traditional western-style saddle.
  • Riders looking for a more open-feeling seat.
  • Riders who want a lightweight comfortable saddle.

    WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT

  • The pre-turned fenders won't put pressure on your joints.
  • The double-padded seat will be comfortable all day.
  • The six strings will make it easy to attach your bags and gear.
  • The 3-way rigging allows you multiple rigging positions to accommodate different fit needs.

    HELPFUL TIPS

The placement of the saddle on the horse’s back is important to function and comfort. The correct saddling position places the front edge of the bar BEHIND the horse’s shoulder blade. This is the sweet spot where the saddle will rest comfortably without interfering with the horse’s movement.

Here at Circle Y, we take saddle fit seriously! Often, we see riders over-padding on a well-fitting saddle. This can lead to poor saddle fit, saddle sores, and a sore back! It’s a good rule of thumb to always check your fit and adjust pad width sizing accordingly!

Have you evaluated your horse’s topline conformation? A weak topline can lead to poor saddle fit. Horses with hollows behind the shoulder, asymmetry, prominent spines, swaybacks, and downhill build need correctional pads to ensure proper fit. Check out our correction pads at Reinsman Equestrian today to ensure your horse’s comfort, or call our customer service team for more info!

*NOTE FOR CHILDREN OR YOUTH SIZES SMALLER THAN 14" When measuring for a child's Western saddle, have them sit down in a chair. Once seated, use a measuring tape to measure the length of their upper leg from the knee to their rear. The saddle should be about 10% longer than the child's upper leg. For example: If the child's leg measures 9 inches, then the child's Western saddle should be 10 inches.

Do you prefer a tighter Barrel Fit?

Are you fitting for a Tucker Saddle?

    Calculated Seat Size:

There is a lot of room for personal preference with seat sizing, but as a general rule it is better to error on the side of ordering a seat size that is too large rather than erring on the side of a seat that will be too small.

    Things to Consider

    • Tucker adds 1/2inch to their seat sizes (due to thick seat padding)
      16.5” Tucker = 16” normally

    • Barrel riders usually take 1” less on the seat size
      16” Trail Rider = 15” Barrel Rider

    • Ranch (slick seats) usually ride smaller (1/2inch seat size) so they don’t slide around
16” is for most men, 15” for most women

    • Trail Saddles with High Cantles (5”) make the seat sizes feel smaller
Trail Saddle with 5” cantle will feel smaller in the seat than one with a 3.5” cantle

    • English Saddles don’t convert exactly but often are 2” bigger
      18” English = 16” Western

    • Riders with inseams under 30” or 5’ tall and under often need custom cut fenders
Tall riders with long legs but lighter weight may need custom cut fenders as well

    Checking the Fit

    • General Guideline is about 3 fingers between your thigh and the swell.

I've purchased 2 saddles from the Horse Saddle Shop. Both times it was a pleasure. The first saddle was not custom and was an easy transaction. The second time, I ordered a custom saddle and worked with Charlie. He was knowledgable and professional throughout our long arduous process of getting the custom saddle made by the manufacurer. I would definately purchase a saddle from Horse Saddle Shop and Charlie again.

I have never been more pleased with a business and so satisfied with my purchase! I contacted Horse Saddle Shop about a saddle to fit my Haflinger. Josh spent a lot of time on phone and email with me until late night. I let him pick a bridle and breast plate to match. Everything was perfect, shipping was fast, boxed well, prices very fair. I love my saddle, and will definitely be making more purchases from Horse Saddle Shop.

Incredibly streamlined and easy. I am absolutely blown away by the service horse saddle shop provided me. I am naturally a very indecisive person and incredibly picky when it comes to my gear, so after months of shopping and reading my boyfriend suggested here. He also had a positive experience. I browsed their wide selection of used saddles and there it was, MY saddle. The chat staff was incredibly helpful and my saddle was here 4 days later even with free shipping! The saddle was accurately represented in the photos is far from "used". I'm thrilled, to say the least. Thank you!

After so much searching and being nervous about ordering a saddle online. I picked up the phone and called the Horse Saddle Shop to ask a few questions about a used saddle that was on their website. They were so nice and helpful. I ordered my very lightly used Circle Y saddle and a new saddle pad. It arrived very quickly. Only a few days. I LOVE my new saddle. In great condition and rides great! I would highly recommend using them for your tack needs. I know I will be in the future!
