The Walnut Grove Flex2 Saddle by Circle Y has a wade look with Flex2 tree technology. This tree has been coated with DURAhide to ensure that it stays strong and resistant to the elements. When measuring for a child's Western saddle, have them sit down in a chair. Once seated, use a measuring tape to measure the length of their upper leg from the knee to their rear. The saddle should be about 10% longer than the child's upper leg. For example: If the child's leg measures 9 inches, then the child's Western saddle should be 10 inches.
There is a lot of room for personal preference with seat sizing, but as a general rule it is better to error on the side of ordering a seat size that is too large rather than erring on the side of a seat that will be too small.

There is a lot of room for personal preference with seat sizing, but as a general rule it is better to error on the side of ordering a seat size that is too large rather than erring on the side of a seat that will be too small.
Things to Consider
- Tucker adds 1/2inch to their seat sizes (due to thick seat padding)
16.5” Tucker = 16” normally
- Barrel riders usually take 1” less on the seat size
16” Trail Rider = 15” Barrel Rider
- Ranch (slick seats) usually ride smaller (1/2inch seat size) so they don’t slide around
16” is for most men, 15” for most women
- Trail Saddles with High Cantles (5”) make the seat sizes feel smaller
Trail Saddle with 5” cantle will feel smaller in the seat than one with a 3.5” cantle
- English Saddles don’t convert exactly but often are 2” bigger
18” English = 16” Western
- Riders with inseams under 30” or 5’ tall and under often need custom cut fenders
Tall riders with long legs but lighter weight may need custom cut fenders as well

What a waste of moneyI cant say wnough about how many issies there are with a brand new $2800 saddle. The hobble straps for my saddle had cut marks in them, I emailed and and they sent out a replacement that didn't match but that's neither here nor there at this juncture. I've only ridden in this saddle once and as I went to go ride my horse today I notice that glue is seeping out of the stirrup edges everywhere. There are unfinished edges and gaps on the fenders and side flaps. Strings that are frayed. For an almost $3000 saddle I am so horribly disappointed in the quality and craftsmanship. This is my first ever new saddle. I clearly would have been much better off purchasing a crest ridge saddle or Alleghany or anything of the like in this price range. I just can't believe the quality for the price it's like something that ship from India. What was Circle Ys tespons to me over the crap quality of an almost 3k saddle?? "Kelly,

Circle Y WadeMost comfortable saddle Ive ever owned. I got the regular tree and it fits my narrow short backed mustang and my big shouldered draft cross with a thin pad underneath. Changed out stirrups to a wooden stirrup only because I dont like the angled style. Rode for 5 hrs very comfortable on trail and paved roads. Definitely recommend.

HorseSaddle Shop was very easy to work with to order it and get it shipped. Although they shipped it the next day getting it through customs with FedEx Ground was a nightmare. Beautiful , comfortable and fits a wide variety of horses I was so apprehensive about spending so much money on a saddle before actually being able to use it . I had 2 representatives from Horse Saddle Shop help me . I wish I could remember their names of hand, the first was a women who let me send her pictures of my horse and sent me options of saddles to look at. (She was actually more help than the saddle fitter I paid several hundred dollars to fit my gelding who was quite hard to find a saddle that fit him well). The second rep, (a man, whose name I know Ive seen other reviewers mention) , was the one who actually took my order . After assuring me of their return policy I wanted to place my order . They only had 2 saddles in stock , One of each color , however the one I wanted was on hold for someone else . The rep actually took the time and called the person to find out if they were still interested in buying it and thankfully for me they were not so he called me back and told me I could purchase it . I was so happy I gave my CC and closed the deal, even though I was Still scared I was gonna get some scratched up , used saddle, can you say I was expecting the worst . 🥴. I received my saddle in 2 days. A huge undamaged box with a beautiful in perfect condition saddle . I carefully tried it on my horse (using a sheet between the saddle and the horse ) because I just knew it wasnt going to fit BUT it appeared to fit him perfectly . He is a round barrel shaped gelding with a short back . Surprisingly it also fits 2 of my other horses extremely well; a paint mare with large shoulders, back with a little dip AND. a Missouri Fox Trotter with a straight long back . This saddle is sooooo comfortable and Ive had so many compliments on it . If you want to get fancy you can order it with customized conchos and custom stirrups but you will have to wait a good 6-9 months for it . If I didnt have to wait that long I would have as I did change the stirrups . But I needed a saddle ASAP so I just bought the saddle with what it comes with. I am extremely happy with my purchase . Thank you so much horse saddle shop for being so kind and patient with me .

Comfortable Cowboy Saddle - great for High-Withered Horses!I ordered this saddle after numerous attempts at getting one to fit my draft-cross horse. His high withers and down-hill back made it difficult to find a saddle that fit him well - the slick fork design and high gullet clearance, combined with the rounded skirt made this saddle the perfect fit for his body shape.

High quality saddle looks good and gets lots of complements.High quality, great fit and finish, but because of its light weight and being a trail saddle some care will need to be taken in selecting the appropriate saddle pad. If you want zero issues in fit get a Toklat T3 Matrix SHIM Pad. I use the flex form and it works best for this saddle and my quarter horse. I replaced the nylon cinch straps with leather ones and use a Mohair Roper Cinch w/ Jeremiah Watts hardware.

Looking for a safe feeling seat...look no further!!I am a novice rider lacking confidence due to a bad accident in the past and was looking for a saddle to make me feel secure. After reading the reviews on this one I decided to take a chance, sight unseen, and order this saddle. I am absolutely thrilled with it! The quality of the saddle is outstanding, very well made, beautiful tooling but not too much, and extremely comfortable. As far as feeling safe in the seat, for me it is beyond compare. As soon as I sat in it I felt totally secure. Fits my Dales Pony perfectly too. I could not be happier with this purchase.

SafeI agree with all the comments about how safe this saddle is. So far my horse has spooked, side stepped, stumbled, buckled at the knee and almost fallen over - and I've had no problem staying in the saddle. Very safe! As a beginner that has been a huge bonus for me. It's also very comfortable. Has helped with mine and my horse's training.

Everything and more!So excited when I opened the box..Wow the best birthday present ever! It was exactly as it showed on your site. I have only ridden in it a few times due to a previous accident but the comfort of this saddle is second to none. Talk about a deep seat, if you like to feel snug and safe, and I certainly do, this is definitely the saddle to buy. My instructor liked how it fitted my horse, great shoulder clearance and excellent length for my quarter horse. What really stood out to me was how much more I could feel my horse under me. I've never felt this before. The position it puts me in is perfect with legs nicely under. I love the pre twisted fenders and the slope of the stirrup bars, makes for stress free knees and ankles. Negatives: I searched and searched but can't come up up with one.. One extremely happy lady... Thank you guys..

Nice saddleThis saddle is magnificent. The leather quality seems to be really good. I got a lot of compliments on its beauty, especially on the floral pattern and the conchos. It is also very comfortable and safe. This saddle is made to wear long stirrups to appreciate the deep seat. After a few long trails so break it, I can say that this saddle is well suited to the comfort of the horse and rider. My horse love it and even after trails, no sore spot appears under the saddle. I like the ranch look and ligthness for that trail saddle. This model is different from the models usually sold in equestrian shop in Canada.

Best saddle I have riddenI use this saddle for pleasure riding on my Carolina Marsh Tacky mare. She is narrow, as most Colonial Spanish horses are. She has high whithers. I am short and round and the saddle adjusted to my short 28 inch inseam. It is super comfortable. And very pretty. I can't ask for anything better. I got a good deal here and Josh was great with all the customer service he provided. No qualms at all about ordering from these folks again.

Wonderful SaddleI've now had this saddle for about 5 months and I'm absolutely delighted with it. At first, I found the deep seat a little strange, and I find I ride with my stirrups a notch shorter than before in order to sit deeper in the saddle. But the longer I have it, the more comfortable I find it - just a matter of getting used to it I guess. And blimey, it's incredibly secure. When my young horse sidestepped mid gallop, I hardly noticed. The quality is superb and having tested the saddle on both of my horses with a Port Lewis pressure pad (using a Mattes pad that I can shim) it's seems I have a perfect fit. And that's probably due to the fantastic support I received from the team at the Horse Saddle Shop when choosing a saddle. The prospect of buying a saddle blind was a bit scary but I've no regrets at all.

This is one SAFE saddle!!!I'm just a weekend pleasure trail rider. My horse and I are never in a hurry, so I never expected to give this saddle much of an extreme trial. It got one, though, as you'll read below. My #1 saddle requirement is comfort for my horse - total spine clearance, consistent weight distribution, balanced fit, light weight (ranch Wades usually run 40 to 50 pounds). #2 is seat position that will hold the rider comfortably for hours and provide a little "spook-support" in case something unexpected darts out of the woods. #3 was rock-solid construction, because this is the last saddle I intend to purchase. Out of the box, the Walnut Grove appeared to be terrific in these ways. However, this is how my new saddle got an A+++ and not just a mere A. A good friend of mine, a seasoned ranch cutter and PNH trainer, tested a 13-year-old QH mare that I was thinking of buying. She had the most delightful disposition, lovely movement, and was extraordinarily easy-going and willing .... until my friend asked her to walk away from her pasturemates, who were grazing about 200 feet away in an adjacent paddock. I have never seen a horse go vertical that quickly without telegraphing its intent. The mare was totally chill - no tension, no tail twitches, no head toss, nothing. Head down, super relaxed, offering a soft trot with ears forward .... until the moment my friend turned her head away from her buddies. In literally less time than it takes to blink, and with zero warning, she reared as close to 90 degrees as possible without flipping backward. The trainer said that, as many hours as he's racked up cutting cattle and training spunky green youngsters, he never saw or felt that coming, and the only reason he stayed on that horse was because of that saddle. He owns a heavy duty roughout ranch Wade with a 4-inch cantle, and he said his saddle would have forced him to bail. The first thing out of his mouth when he managed a controlled dismount was, "Wow! I really like that saddle!" If that's not high praise for a saddle design, nothing is. It took me two years to save up for this saddle, and I was in sticker shock for a while, but I'm completely convinced that this is the safest saddle I could possibly own.

Luv ItAfter trying lots of styles on my very high withered narrow QH this one works great for both him and myself. 2 months later a girlfriend had me order the same but with a wide tree for her grandaughter. They are used mostly for trail rides and the occational cattle drive.The only drawback is that the stirrup leathers are wearing the leather over the rigging. Horsesaddle shop was great to deal with and I'm in the process of ordering another style for my paint.

What a waste of moneyI cant say wnough about how many issies there are with a brand new $2800 saddle. The hobble straps for my saddle had cut marks in them, I emailed and and they sent out a replacement that didn't match but that's neither here nor there at this juncture. I've only ridden in this saddle once and as I went to go ride my horse today I notice that glue is seeping out of the stirrup edges everywhere. There are unfinished edges and gaps on the fenders and side flaps. Strings that are frayed. For an almost $3000 saddle I am so horribly disappointed in the quality and craftsmanship. This is my first ever new saddle. I clearly would have been much better off purchasing a crest ridge saddle or Alleghany or anything of the like in this price range. I just can't believe the quality for the price it's like something that ship from India. What was Circle Ys tespons to me over the crap quality of an almost 3k saddle?? "Kelly,

Circle Y WadeMost comfortable saddle Ive ever owned. I got the regular tree and it fits my narrow short backed mustang and my big shouldered draft cross with a thin pad underneath. Changed out stirrups to a wooden stirrup only because I dont like the angled style. Rode for 5 hrs very comfortable on trail and paved roads. Definitely recommend.
